Project Overview
Liveable Loans is a mortgage broking business operating throughout Victoria, Australia. The business provides mortgage broking services with a special emphasis on helping those for whom purchasing homes can be difficult. For Liveable Loan clients, this is often not because of an inability to cover a mortgage, but because of poor systems literacy in knowing how to apply for a loan, or how to talk to a bank about red flags such as a new job or having a new child.
I originally helped Liveable Loans with the establishment of their branding and website when they began in 2064. Following this, the Director of Liveable Loans, Jon, often found it helpful to talk through various business deals and decisions. In 2018 he put me on retainer to help grow the business further. This involved weekly catchups to talk through various business, branding, staffing, IT, marketing and legal issues. On the front end, we created systems and structures to help him more reliably and efficiently connect with clients, whilst on the backend helped him move aggregators and hire his first staff member. As a Sole Director, Jon also appreciated having someone to talk to who understood the implications and pressures of running a business, and we were able to talk through many Life Coaching related areas. This was particularly important to Jon who has a massive heart for his family and being a good father to his kids.
The result was Jon was able to increase the number of opportunities coming in the door each week, was more efficiently able to clear his existing clients, communicated better with his clients throughout the process, and found ways to run his business in a way that supported his commitment to his family.
In 2019 Jon began to move into a new line of work in a totally new industry. As much of the time we had spent was working towards helping his business scale into the future, I once asked if in hindsight he felt it a waste to have had me on retainer for the two years prior to starting his new business. He commented that he found the time invaluable and that our time together had grown his understanding of business enabling him to make this next move. It was a privilege to work with Jon so closely over these two years. I admire his integrity, energy, crazy ideas, and heart for people.
